Thanks John. I'm familiar with Sanger's work at Wikipedia and have thought about interviewing him in the past. After reading his conversion story, I'll definitely be reaching out to him. Thank you!
The entire testimony, beyond being so well written and described, is a complete vindication for reviving the true meaning of "faith". Faith is not the epistemology. Faith is the result.
"At some point in my late teens, I remember calling up a pastor—I forget which—to ask skeptical questions. It felt bold for a teenager to do, but I was not merely being rebellious. I really needed help thinking these things through. But the pastor had no clear or strong answers. He seemed to be brushing me off and even to treat me with contempt." -- L. Sanger
The book wasted a lot of words (and a lot of money "researching" and then concluding next to nothing). But here Sanger summed up the great de-churching quite nicely and succinctly.
The lack of discernment within the church is a concern. Just because it says ‘Christian’ on the label doesn’t mean that what’s inside is Christian. Thank you for your podcast. I am finding it both and enjoyable and hugely worthwhile listen.
I wasn't sure where to share this, but it gets right to the core of why The Humble Skeptic is such an important resource.

There's an actual book out there purporting to be an explanation for "The Great DeChurching". https://www.amazon.com/Great-Dechurching
